Like their eponymous zodiac animal, people born in the years of the Tiger are vigorous and ambitious, daring and courageous, enthusiastic and generous, self-confident with a sense of justice and a commitment to help others for the greater good.

The Tiger is associated with valour. Those belonging to the sign of the Tiger (born in 2010, 1998, 1986, 1974, 1962, 1950 and 1938) are said to value independence and have a strong sense of justice.

People born in a year of the Tiger are brave, competitive, unpredictable, and confident. They are very charming and well-liked by others. But sometimes they are likely to be impetuous, irritable, and overindulgent.

With stubborn personalities and tough judgment, Tigers work actively and express themselves boldly, doing things in a high-handed manner. They are authoritative and never go back on what they have said.

With great confidence and indomitable fortitude, they can be competent leaders. They will not make preparations for anything, but can handle anything that comes along.

Positive Traits:

Impulsive, courageous, independent, optimistic, enthusiastic, intense, energetic, tenacious, loyal, daring, passionate, charismatic, fearless, vibrant, honourable

Negative Traits:

Rebellous, overly confident, dictative, stubborn, brash, domineering, overly-emotional

Third Trine:

The 12 signs of the Ming Shui (Circle of Animals) of the Chinese Zodiac are split into four groups of three animals each. These divisions are referred to as “trines.” Each trine contains animals that are not sequential in the Circle but are four years apart.

The purpose of the trine is to help you understand what animals are compatible. The three animals selected are strongly co-related in terms of specific facets. As a result, you may easily compare and understand their compatibility in terms of such things as family matters, business associations, and personal relationships. The animals found in each Trine are perceived as being very alike in such aspects as personality, outlook, and mindset, to name a few.

The Third Trine features animals with the highest of ideals. The Tiger, Horse and Dog are bound together by characteristics that ensure they do well in each other’s company. They may not be typical “soul mates” but they do work, play and do very well at bringing up children together. While all three signs are idealistic in nature, each pursues their goals in a slightly different manner. The Tiger is a born leader who courageously protects and chases what he or she wants.

When it comes to relationships and close contact with others, Tigers, Horses and Dogs are best matched with each other. When a Tiger forms a close bond with a Horse, in both pleasure and business, it proves solid and is bound to last. Horses and Tigers will stand by each other in marriage, in friendship and in whatever causes are being fought for. In a social situation, the Tiger can also create a sublime situation by becoming friends with the Dog. The two add to each other’s strengths. In business, however, there may be issues over ideals.

Element: Water

Water is the source of life on this planet. Water has the capacity to flow, infinitely yielding yet infinitely powerful, silent and still, awaiting, flexible, ever changing, a stored potential and often dangerous (flood’s devastation) with the capacity also to nourish and cleanse.
Likewise it is the fluid (the main component of the body) which nourishes and maintains the health of every cell. Water corresponds to the skeletal and excretory system as well as to the vital fluids, i.e. blood, lymph, mucus, semen and fat and is related to the lung. The kidney is especially linked to this element.
Represented by the colour black/ blue and a wave like shape, Water’s motion is downward, fluid, secretive, intuitive, compassionate, sensitive, gentle and creative.
Water is the ultimate yin; quiet, cold; representing the resting time of winter.
In human psychology the element governs the balance between fear or being exploited and the desire to dominate.

Water Tiger

Recent years: 1962, 2022

Water Tigers tend to have very good interpersonal relationships. They are family-oriented and like to lead a quiet and peaceful family life. They may appear brash on the outside, while on the inside they may be prone to indecision and restraint. Metal Tigers keep family and work clearly divided, and try to never take work home. Although they are relatively taciturn, they are considerate and sympathetic to their loved ones.

Tigers desire power and Water Tigers are no exception. If they can work hard and keep making progress, they will surely realize their wishes. Water Tigers must learn to practice patience and love, especially with their family. Otherwise, turbulence in the private sphere will interfere with their success in the professional sphere. Water Tigers will make great progress in their career, but success will not come without hard work. They can find others’ advice off-putting, a hang-up they will have to get over in order to succeed.

In General:

The Tiger, called “the king of the animals” in China, is usually the center of attention. They are born with leadership skills and they are respected by others. Tigers are suited to any career as leaders.

The best careers for Tigers are: advertising agent, office manager, travel agent, actor, writer, artist, pilot, flight attendant, musician, comedian, and chauffeur.

However, in their early years, Tigers’ careers are not so smooth. After their thirties they find their direction and gather wealth.

Tigers usually enjoy good health. Small illnesses, such as colds, coughs, and fever, are rarely experienced by Tigers. They are active so they like to do various sports.

However, they should avoid excessive strenuous exercise, because some dangerous activities may lead to physical harm. When involved in outdoor exercise, they should pay particular attention to warm-up exercise. Aerobic exercises, such as jogging, are suitable for keeping fit.

Tigers are energetic and have great enthusiasm at work. When they feel exhausted after working for long hours, they need some relaxation to refresh themselves.

In social relationships, Tigers always have a dominant role.

Due to mistrust and overconfidence, Tigers do not like to communicate with others so they are not good at coordinating in social circles. They are inclined to use commanding means to deal with interpersonal relationships.

Even though they are acquainted with a lot of people, they do not further the relationships to make close friendships.

Understanding, patience, and tact are needed when dealing with Tigers.

In love relationships, Tigers cannot show deep affection to their partners because they lack a sense of romance. Partners need to be equally active to keep up with a Tiger’s sense of adventure.

What’s in store for Year of the Tiger?

The Year of the Rat (2020) was about survival, and the Year of the Ox (2021) was about anchoring ourselves in a new reality. The Year of the Tiger will be about making big changes. This will be a year of risk-taking and adventure. We’re finding enthusiasm again, both for ourselves and for others. Everyone is fired up, generosity is at an all-time high and social progress feels possible again.

The Tiger is associated with Yang (masculine, active) energy. Tigers do things their own way and hate being told what to do. Expect things to rapidly change this year. Sudden disruptions in career, romance and home life should be expected. Some of us will thrive through taking great leaps, while others might crash and burn. So while it’s important to follow our intuition and run with our wildest dreams, that means we also have to keep our egos in check.

In addition to the animals, the Chinese Zodiac also cycles through five elemental types. So, this is not only the Year of the Tiger, it’s the year of the Water Tiger. Water years bring out our emotions more than any of the other elements. Water Tigers are family-oriented and have wonderful interpersonal relationships. Though they’re extremely driven and can be brash, their goal is always to do what’s best for everyone, not just for themselves. Overall, this is a year for switching careers, building teams or getting back into creative projects. Life is short so why not be happy?

I’m a Tiger; Will this be my Best Year?

Born under this sign, you might think that the Year of the Tiger is your time to shine, but sadly, it’s actually the opposite. Traditionally, a zodiac sign’s year is the most unlucky for them in Chinese astrology. That said, since 2022 is about fiercely pursuing passions for all of the signs, as a Tiger, you know how to go big or go home better than most. You may be rewarded for the bold risks you’re willing to take.

Though this isn’t the ideal year for the Tiger, this year will be great for Horses (who prioritize freedom over everything), Pigs (who are pragmatic yet pleasure-driven), and Dogs (who are fiercely loyal). Monkeys (who are driven by intellect rather than action) and Snakes (who love strategizing in secret) may have a harder time this year.

Famous Tiger People:

  • Queen Elizabeth II: born on April 21, 1926, a Fire Tiger
  • Tom Cruise: born on July 3, 1962, a Water Tiger
  • Leonardo DiCaprio: born on November 11, 1974, a Wood Tiger
  • Lady Gaga: born on March 28, 1986, a Fire Tiger

Turning The Big 30

“No wise wo/man ever wished to be younger” – Jonathan Swift

Well I guess it’s now time for me to write this piece.

I’ve had it on draft for a while now but have been somewhat avoiding it on a few accounts; one, I didn’t want to write about it until the event was over so as not to miss any part of the experience and secondly, I wanted to understand it fully before I attempted to express it. And hindsight, I’ve found, is the best way to fully understand something.

So although it’s posted in this timeframe, it was eventually written today; October 21st, 2008.

This experience began as all major events in my life have, well in advance but this time also at the same time as another other major happenings; Saturn in Leo and then Saturn in Virgo, so I can say that I have not had a break from Saturn for a few years now and oh how I have felt that!

They say that relationships which are not meant to be; aren’t meant to last, fall away at this time and such occurred to mine but was one of the best things to happen. It just didn’t feel like it at the time, of course.

It wasn’t the only one though and that was the most amazing thing about this time. I met up with many people my age and year, more than I would normally do, it was quite remarkable. I also came in contact with many people from my past, that it was like a little re-visit to put in place who and what was what and most importantly reminding me of why I chose my life the way it is and making me satisfied, accepting and confident both in my past decisions and in so doing, my future ones.

So by my 30th birthday I knew who I was bringing into my future and who I was leaving behind. There were a few that looked to be otherwise but have since proven not so and I attribute that to me trying to use old patterns in a new life. I have since re-established my new patterns as even now I continually change ever-so-slightly; peeling down to the real me that I wish to be. It is quite unsettling in one respect; as all changes are but quite comfortable in another as I become myself and not who I thought I had to be or tried to be.

I had a girlfriend trying to comfort me when people I invited to my birthday didn’t attend as this upset her at hers but I was honestly not upset in the slightest. I only wanted around me people that knew and understood me and who wanted to be in my future. And that is what I had.

There is a confidence you develop from going through this kind of remoulding and re-establishing – the maturing process. It’s the confidence that comes with the knowing who you are, what you want and with the acceptance of who you are. And from the acceptance then comes the understanding and the way forward. Gone is the anxiety of youth, the pressure of needing to fit in, needing to be accepted or thinking one must to get on in life as you realise the best way to fit in is to be yourself ALWAYS no matter who it disagrees with.

I finally learnt instead of totally going after life; relax and let life come to you. Again, as all things in life it’s all in the balance; the balance between going after what you want and letting it find you. And to be honest this can only come with experience, as you learn what you need to do in order to get things and what just needs you to throw it out there and wait for it to return.

I sure it was no accident that at this time, after breaking up with my relationship, I finally did the one thing in my life I know I’ve always wanted; set up my own living arrangement; my own apartment! This has been one of the best things I have and will ever have done for myself. Even the number of the apartment said it all; it equals number one; which is the number of new beginnings. Never in my life have I been a number one till now.

Now is the time to put my self, my ideals, my goals FIRST!

My Birthday ~

It only happens once a year and you are only that age once so I have decided to thoroughly enjoy EVERY birthday for what it is, what it brings, what it signifies and what I can enjoy from it…!!!

So this is an ode to myself….!

“We are plunged into an existance fantastic to the point of nightmare and however hard we rationalise or however firm our religious faith, however closely we dog the heels of science or wheel among the stars of mysticism we cannot really make head or tail of it. Thank goodness, we are no more than partly aware of a little at a time”

Sometimes I shave my legs and sometimes I don’t
Sometimes I comb my hair and sometimes I won’t
Depend on how the wind blows I might even paint my toes
It really just depends on whatever feels good in my soul

I’m not the average girl from your video
and I ain’t built like a supermodel
But, I learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen
I’m not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
No matter what I’m wearing I will always be the india arie

When I look in the mirror and the only one there is me
Every freckle on my face is where it’s supposed to be
And I know our creator didn’t make no mistakes on me
My feet, my thighs, my lips, my eyes; I’m lovin’ what I see

I’m not the average girl from your video
and I ain’t built like a supermodel
But, I learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen
I’m not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
No matter what I’m wearing I will always be the
india arie

Am I less of a lady if I don’t wear pantyhose?
My mama said a lady ain’t what she wears but, what she knows
But, I’ve drawn a conclusion, it’s all an illusion, confusion’s the name of the
game
A misconception, a vast deception
Something’s gotta change
but,Don’t be offended this is all my opinion
ain’t nothing that I’m sayin law
This is a true confession of a life learned lesson I was sent here to share with
y’all
So get in where you fit in go on and shine
Clear your mind, now’s the time
Put your salt on the shelf
Go on and love yourself
‘Cuz everything’s gonna be all right

I’m not the average girl from your video
and I ain’t built like a supermodel
But, I Learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen
I’m not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
No matter what I’m wearing I will always be the india arie

Keep your fancy drinks and your expensive minks
I don’t need that to have a good time
Keep your expensive car and your caviar
All I need is my guitar
Keep your Kristal and your pistol
I’d rather have a pretty piece of crystal
Don’t need your silicone I prefer my own
What God gave me is just fine

I’m not the average girl from your video
and I ain’t built like a supermodel
But, I learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen
I’m not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
No matter what I’m wearing I will always be india arie

Left Brain / Right Brain – THIS VIDEO IS A MUST SEE!

This video is a powerful, awe-inspiring talk by neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor, who had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke.

As it happened, as she felt her brain functions slip away one by one, speech, movement, understanding she studied and remembered every moment, recognizing how she was slipping away from the defined sense of her personal self (left brain hemisphere) into the oneness of infinite creative energy (right brain hemisphere).

This is a powerful story about how our brains define us and connect us to the world and to one another. Most inspiring is the clarity with which she illuminates the concept of choice that we all have in each and every moment.

Absolutely work watching:

Saturn in Leo Jul.16.05 – Sept.09.07

Leo – To express & appreciate oneself

The 5th house – The oasis of one’s needs & longings; for the sake of oneself

Saturn – Restriction, lessons & learning, duty

“Saturn is the reality check in life, and tends to make us serious about the things, people and attitudes we have been holding onto. If we don’t really need it, this is a time of letting go, if we do then now is ideal for making things more permanent.

Saturn is the planet that says “no” but means “yes.” The no comes from Saturn showing us what isn’t working, sometimes in the form of frustrating blockages or delays. But these help us see where we need to put in effort to make concrete changes. Saturn says “yes” as the planet of crystallization that brings energy into matter. Saturn’s presence in a sign of the zodiac shows us where we are likely to meet limits and how to construct something useful.

Saturn in Leo is considered challenging by traditional astrologers. Since Saturn rules the opposite sign Aquarius where its cool edge of reason fits so well, it is in detriment in Leo. Theoretically, this suggests that the planet and sign don’t get along well. We can understand the contrast between the warmth and personal expressiveness of Leo and Saturn’s utilitarian approach to life. The planet chills the sign. But Saturn tends to put a damper on the energy wherever it is, yet rewards with concrete results for those willing to do the work.

The job of Saturn in Leo is building the courage to express our personalities.”

I am going to backtrack a couple of years to the time my inner world began to crumble and my days of personal irresponsibility and carelessness were numbered all in this process of the ego being shattered in order for true confidence of the soul to be reborn.

Before then I was blissfully ignorant in my rebellion of my past, living it up in a youthful stupor of seeming indestructable innocence, of endless parties and mindless moments where nothing mattered but immediate self gratification; anything to numb the pain that was life.

Before then, life was an expression of the self through the ego, albeit a fractured ego, unhealthy in it’s make due to an uncomprimising upbringing.

Yet as nature will have it, judgement day came and came for me it did. Life literally as I knew it came to a halt and changed forever –

I began to grow up!…… and embrace the true desires of my heart.

Again, I must have felt it coming as I remember discussing it with an astrologically aware brother of mine at the time and expressing my nervousness of what to expect.  Soul deep, I knew what was coming, wanted it to happen, much like a 13yr old teenager, not quite an adult, looks to adults and wants to be one but knows there’s a lot of pain in between that – the pain of growing up.

The pain of trading blissful innocence for responsible knowing; called the maturing process – the price of maturity.

Appropriate too as Leo is the sign of the teenager.

Thankfully, in the midst of it I was able to go on line and discover others going through the same process and we could commiserate together. There were many other Leos whose lives could feel their sun being overshadowed by the gloom and seriousness of Saturn/maturity and it gave comfort and instilled courage to know there would be an end to it one day soon.

Part of the process was learning how to direct some of that energy inside and nurturing myself as much as I was others for it was in learning how to protect oneself that you can learn to best nurture and strengthen others.

Part was how to be patient and prepare more before expressing and to take time for the end result for it is in the preparation time one can learn so much more; it is in the details which leo can be too impatient to take the time for, that you can pick up on those fine lines in life.

I was told that I would still be the fun-loving leo I was before, I was told I would enjoy the new mature lion I was to become and I have to say they were right. In fact, I have discovered more ways to enjoy life instead of the limited way I had before that I was previously attached to.

I discovered a whole lot more to the world I live in and how to live it authentically..!

Full Moon in Scorpio II

Moon – Aspirations of the unconcious

Scorpio – Surrendering, in order to be reborn

Well here we are again, one month later, with another full moon in Scorpio (May 19-20). In a rare occurence the full moon has fallen consecutively in the same sign.

Having already been prepared by the last one this one was as intense but in a different way. This one was more internal than external or maybe I just directed it that way.

As usual, it’s affect began a week in advance where it began intensifying the affects of my planetary transits and in particular Chiron squaring my ASC – Ahhhhhhh….!

This happened a couple of days ago and I can tell you it was a tough couple of days in particular. I felt all this pressure inside and didn’t know what to do with it but it had to come out; had to be expressed!!! As healthily and naturally as possible to myself and others.

Luckily through my memories of previous lessons I was able to put to use the patience I’d learnt from them and awareness of what was being triggered. I could tell exactly when it lifted; I was walking home and all of a sudden the weight of it was gone and i could ‘breathe normally’ again.

So that set the theme of this full moon experience – putting more of the past to rest in the form of outwardly expressing internal blockages to release them .

And it’s worked – I feel healed in ways I haven’t been for a long while; another barrier inside has been broken, another code deciphered, one step closer to freedom of the soul and better integration of mind body & spirit!

Once I accepted the theme which was blatantly obvious when my phone company disconnected my phone; hello – red light says ‘take a break from everyone else and give yourself time and space at this time’.

I listened and was rewarded with more insight and peace of mind and spirit.
